August 24 – September 1, 2026
At the western edge of Canada, along the tranquil Pacific coastline, lies one of the most extraordinary places on Earth – British Columbia. A true wilderness where nature still reigns free of human interference, and a dream destination for photographers.
The legendary Great Bear Rainforest is the largest temperate rainforest in the world, renowned for its rich wildlife. Here we’ll encounter grizzly bears, black bears, and the rare and iconic spirit bear, alongside wolves, bald eagles, sea otters, and countless other species that thrive only in this unique ecosystem.
This exclusive expedition, guided by world-renowned wildlife photographer Roie Galitz, takes place aboard a private yacht – ensuring intimacy, proximity, and unforgettable opportunities to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments in the wild.
Private yacht, with only 12 participants along a unique route.
Personal guidance by a senior PhotoTeva nature photographer and a local expert guide.
An itinerary specially designed for nature and photography lovers, focusing on the best wildlife locations.
This isn’t a crowded cruise with hundreds of passengers — our yacht is limited to just 12 guests!
A smaller group means more time in the field, closer encounters with wildlife, and stronger photographic opportunities.
After landing in Vancouver, we’ll take a short domestic flight to Bella Bella and meet our group and crew. Our journey begins in this small First Nations community on Campbell Island, home to about 1,450 residents. The town is accessible only by air or ferry and offers a fascinating introduction to the Great Bear Rainforest.
Overnight: Shearwater Resort on Denny Island or similar.
After breakfast we’ll set sail into the breathtaking Great Bear Rainforest – the world’s largest temperate rainforest. As we navigate through fjords and remote inlets, we’ll witness dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife. Our expert naturalist and photography guide will share insights about the ecosystem, birds, and marine mammals we encounter along the way.
We’ll cruise along Douglas Channel, home to large gatherings of humpback whales. With luck, we may see them breaching or performing bubble-net feeding – a remarkable cooperative hunting behavior. This region is also rich in wildlife: orcas, sea lions, porpoises, Pacific white-sided dolphins, sea otters, and Steller sea lions.
We continue toward Princess Royal Island – the best place to find the rare Spirit Bear. For two full days, we’ll be guided by members of the Gitga’at Nation, who hold unmatched knowledge of this unique bear, sacred to their culture. Patiently, we will wait along salmon streams deep in the rainforest, hoping for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Spirit Bears are actually white-furred black bears, a rare genetic variation. This region is also home to grizzlies, black bears, coastal wolves, bald eagles, and much more.
This stage of the journey focuses on the grizzly bears as they follow salmon runs along wild rivers and estuaries. The salmon attract countless animals, including bears, wolves, and eagles. We’ll approach by small boats to observe the grizzlies fishing along riverbanks and tidal flats. Expect unforgettable encounters and powerful photography opportunities in this pristine wilderness.
We end our voyage in the town of Terrace, where we can explore local history and culture. Highlights include the Heritage Park Museum, the “Old Bridge,” and George Little House, the home of the town’s founder. You may also visit the Terrace Art Gallery or enjoy the local cafés and restaurants. Later, we’ll transfer to the airport for a domestic flight back to Vancouver, followed by international flights home.
Important:
The itinerary is flexible and may change due to weather, wildlife movements, and other unforeseen conditions.
