September 5 – 13, 2026
At the western edge of Canada, along the tranquil Pacific coastline, lies one of the most extraordinary places on Earth – British Columbia. A true wilderness where nature still reigns free of human interference, and a dream destination for photographers.
The legendary Great Bear Rainforest is the largest temperate rainforest in the world, renowned for its rich wildlife. Here we’ll encounter grizzly bears, black bears, and the rare and iconic spirit bear, alongside wolves, bald eagles, sea otters, and countless other species that thrive only in this unique ecosystem.
This exclusive expedition, guided by world-renowned wildlife photographer Roie Galitz, takes place aboard a private yacht – ensuring intimacy, proximity, and unforgettable opportunities to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments in the wild.
Private yacht, with only 12 participants along a unique route.
Personal guidance by a senior PhotoTeva nature photographer and a local expert guide.
An itinerary specially designed for nature and photography lovers, focusing on the best wildlife locations.
This isn’t a crowded cruise with hundreds of passengers — our yacht is limited to just 12 guests!
A smaller group means more time in the field, closer encounters with wildlife, and stronger photographic opportunities.
We’ll gather in the town of Terrace, reached via a short flight from Vancouver. After a city tour, we’ll meet our guide and fellow travelers. Terrace has a fascinating industrial past and cultural attractions such as the Heritage Park Museum, the “Old Bridge,” and George Little House – home of the town’s founder. You may also enjoy the Terrace Art Gallery, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants.
Overnight: Comfort Inn and Suites or similar.
After breakfast, we set sail into the spectacular Great Bear Rainforest. As we cruise through fjords and remote inlets, we’ll encounter breathtaking scenery and wildlife. Our naturalist and photography guide will introduce us to the region’s rich ecosystem of plants, birds, and marine life.
We sail along Douglas Channel, home to large gatherings of humpback whales. Here we may see them breaching or performing bubble-net feeding – a unique cooperative hunting strategy. The area is also home to orcas, sea lions, porpoises, Pacific white-sided dolphins, sea otters, and Steller sea lions.
We continue to Princess Royal Island – the best place to find the rare Spirit Bear. Guided by local members of the Gitga’at Nation, we’ll spend two full days patiently observing salmon streams in hopes of spotting this white-furred black bear, sacred to their culture. With luck, we’ll also encounter grizzlies, black bears, coastal wolves, and bald eagles.
This part of the journey focuses on grizzly bears as they follow salmon runs along wild rivers and estuaries. The abundance of salmon attracts bears, wolves, and eagles. By small boats we’ll approach riverbanks and tidal flats for unforgettable encounters and extraordinary photo opportunities.
We arrive at Milbanke Sound, where we may see sea otters resting on kelp beds, sea lions hauled out on rocky shores, and orcas patrolling the channels. Our voyage concludes in Bella Bella, a small First Nations community of 1,450 residents located on Campbell Island. From here we’ll transfer to the local airport for a charter flight to Vancouver, connecting to international flights home.
